Mission Statement

To preserve and protect through advocacy , promotion and financial support the natural and cultural resources that are the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge.

Spending time with other people who share a love of nature creates priceless experiences. That's one of the many benefits that members of Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge enjoy. This award-winning nonprofit organization, established in 1974, provides financial, volunteer, advisory, and advocacy support to the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. The Friends support the ambassador animals, the bison herd and corrals, staff needs and special projects.

The following are just a few examples of the activities and accomplishments made possible by our generous members and supporters:

  • Maintenance and supplies for bison herd (herd owned by Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge)
  • Educational programs for all ages
  • Professional development and educational programs for FWNC&R staff
  • Intern funding
  • Restrooom facilities for visitors
  • Equipment for FWNC&R operations
  • Special projects, program and facility enhancements
