The Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge (FONC) was established June 4, 1974 as a nonprofit association of individuals who shared a common goal of preserving and protecting the natural and cultural resources that are the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge (FWNC&R).  Beginning with a vision and just 40 members, FONC has grown to become a major resource for the preservation of the FWNC&R and now supports many of the activities, programs and day-to-day functions of this nationally recognizedcanoe04_tmb.jpg treasure.

Contributions given to the Nature Center Conservancy are held in a fund that will be used for improvements and capital projects.
